Ketambe

Ketambe is a small,  authentic village in Aceh, North Sumatra. The village is located between the Alas River and Gunung Leuser National Park. Ketambe is a perfect starting point for your jungle adventure to spot the wild orangutans and other wildlife. To make your visit to Ketambe as comfortable as possible, then stay at least one night before and after your trekking in Ketambe.

Pondok Wisata Guesthouse

Pondok Wisata is the oldest guesthouse in Ketambe, The name Pondok Wisata means 'House for Tourism'. Since August 2017 are we, Irwan and Dieuwertje, the new, young owners of this guesthouse. We are very happy to have the privilege to keep this guesthouse in our family.

At the moment we have 8 rooms in use: 4 basic rooms and 4 private bungalows. At the moment we are building 2 luxury bungalows, we hope to have the bungalows ready before peak season is starting. It is wise to contact us in advance if we have availability for you. Below are the different room options listed:

  • A small basic room for 150.000 idr per night                                                equipped with a double bed + mosquito net, private bathroom and a shared terrace with 3 other rooms.
  • A large basic room for 180.000 idr per night                                       
    equipped with a double bed + mosquito net, private bathroom and a shared terrace with 3 other rooms.
  • A private bungalow for 200.000 idr per night
    equipped with a double bed + mosquito net, a fan, private bathroom and an own terrace located in the garden. 

In the garden you can find large trees, where monkeys and birds will watch you during your stay. At the back of our guesthouse you can find Gunung Leuser National Park, if you are  lucky you can already see some orangutans or  hornbills before you even start a jungle trekking!

The guesthouse has its own restaurant with a menu. Take advantage of the facility and enjoy your breakfast, lunch and dinner here. The restaurant will provide you different, delicious Indonesian or Aceh dishes, but pasta or a Dutch stamppot can be made for you as well. The restaurant is a meeting point for people from the village. Meet the local people in the restaurant and enjoy the evening with them.
